The Youth Development Specialist works under the direction of the Youth Development Coordinator. The Youth Development Specialist will train and facilitate youth leaders to implement evidence-based violence prevention approaches. Additionally, this position will identify and/or develop culturally and linguistically appropriate curricula to meet the needs of youth involved in or at risk of violence. This position will provide training, technical assistance, and consultation to staff, the planning team, and community partners to increase awareness and understanding of positive youth development and successfully implement prevention curricula. The Youth Development Specialist will collaborate with other staff to implement positive youth development and violence prevention programs for youth and young adults. Data collection and assistance with reporting are also expected.
The qualified candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, Education, or a closely related field preferred. At least three years of experience working with diverse children and youth, an understanding of family/school/community violence, strengths-based asset models, community organizing, and group dynamics preferred. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills as well as strong computer skills. This position must be comfortable facilitating trainings and groups.
This is a full-time position located in North Central Massachusetts and will include community-based travel and implementation. Bilingual/Bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply.

Purpose:

Responsibilities Include:
- Train and facilitate youth leaders to implement evidence-based violence prevention approaches
- Identify and/or develop culturally and linguistically appropriate curricula to meet the needs of youth involved in or at risk of violence
- Provide training, technical assistance, and consultation to staff, the planning team, and community partners
- Plan and implement youth-led violence prevention activities and events
- Increase awareness and understanding of positive youth development
- Implement violence prevention curricula
- Collaborate with other REACH staff to implement positive youth development and violence prevention programs
- Collect and report data on activities
- Assist in the development of reports
- Gain an understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision, and Values and ensure staff provide congruent prevention services
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Public Health, Social Work, Education, or a closely related field preferred

Job Location:
