Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I)

LUK is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I). Our core value of celebrating includes embracing the concepts of cultural humility and cultural responsiveness.

LUK’s Non-Discrimination Statement

LUK is committed to diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice, and is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Our diverse workforce has talented professionals throughout the agency – from those with lived experience to recent college graduates to seasoned professionals. We believe that the diversity of our workforce is a strength that helps us best meet the needs of the people we serve.

LUK complies with applicable Federal and State civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age, height, weight, disability, or other legally protected personal characteristics. Further, LUK does not exclude people or treat them differently because of race, color, national origin, citizenship, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age or disability.

LUK’s Antiracism Statement

LUK commits to becoming an antiracist organization. We recognize that racism exists as a system of advantage based on race, created and sustained by those who benefit from these privileges. LUK operates in this larger cultural context and acknowledges our history has benefitted from these advantages and this has impacted our culture and work. As an organization we commit to engage in continuous learning and systemic change by actively engaging in responsive and proactive antiracism.

We believe that antiracism is critical to fulfilling our mission and our commitment to providing equitable services to clients and communities. In order to achieve LUK’s values in action such as community, leadership, justice and celebrating diversity, we commit to work towards social equity for our staff, and the people and communities we serve.  We will provide our staff with a work environment that is free from racism, whether overt or subtle. We vow to become conscious of and create brave spaces to discuss challenging issues of race and color. We commit to holding ourselves accountable to identify and dismantle intentional and unintentional racism within our organization, and create an environment where challenging the status quo is celebrated as an opportunity for growth.

Mosaic

Mosaic upholds LUK’s Sense of Mission, particularly our Core Values of Community, Commitment to Excellence, Justice, Celebrating Diversity, and Stewardship. Mosaic members are committed to engaging in reflective processes as individuals and as a group to increase awareness of multidimensional identities and associated oppression/privilege. From this ongoing analysis, Mosaic will then engage in activities to create an equitable organization for staff as well as the people and communities we serve. Mosaic recommends that diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) be incorporated into all aspects of policy making, administration, practice, and service delivery.

LUK’s Advocacy Advisory Board (LAAB)

LUK’s Advocacy Advisory Board (LAAB) serves as LUK’s key resource to guide the agency’s stance regarding controversial social issues and to promote public policy advocacy to advance and uphold the agency’s Sense of Mission.

Our policy stances focus on racial equity, mental health parity, child rights, and housing security:

Racial Equity: The systematic fair treatment of people of all races resulting in equitable opportunities and outcomes for all.

Mental Health Parity: LUK will advocate for affordable, quality, and equitable access to mental healthcare. Mental health parity is essential to LUK’s vision of creating communities where people are safe, healthy, and resilient.

Child Rights: LUK will advocate to ensure the rights of children are recognized and upheld. The priority of child rights aligns with The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as LUK’s core values.

Housing Security: LUK will advocate for affordable, stable, safe, quality, and accessible housing for vulnerable populations with an emphasis on youth, families, and young adults. Housing security is essential to LUK’s vision of creating communities where people are safe, healthy, and resilient.
