Apprenticeships

LUK’s paid apprentices benefit from a learning and work opportunity in the human services field while giving back to the community and serving people in need. Apprenticeships consist of comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and group/individual supervision. This program is funded in part by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS). Apprentices who complete all required hours and expectations will also be eligible to receive a scholarship. Priority is given to applicants from the North Central Massachusetts area. The Summer 2026 Urban Youth Collaborative Paid Apprentices application deadline is Friday, May 1st, 2026.

Paid Apprentice Responsibilities Include:

  • Gain an understanding of LUK’s Mission, Vision, and Values and provide congruent services.
  • Participate in the full program session (i.e., summer-long program or year-round program.)
  • Work with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or other challenges.
  • Explore placement opportunities.
  • Participate in a matching process for placement.
  • Work with other team members to learn their placement.
  • Attend and participate in required training opportunities.
  • Attend and participate in weekly supervision as well as staff meetings.
  • Complete tasks assigned by supervisor in an efficient and quality manner.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Must be 18+ with an interest in entering the Human Services field.
  • Availability of at least 20 hours/week (25 hours/week in the summer)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Interest in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or other challenges.
  • Desire to impact the community with positive change.
  • Interest in continuous learning and resume building.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • Availability to work in-person based out of Central Massachusetts
  • Bilingual/bicultural candidates encouraged to apply.
