SUMMARY:Common Ground at "Ready\, Set\, School!" with FPS
DESCRIPTION:LUK will be having the 27th Annual Common Ground at Fitchburg Public Schools’ “Ready\, Set\, School!” event! We’ll be hosting a Lightning basketball tournament\, a collaborative Peace Mural\, and activities for the whole family! Plus\, enjoy a bunch of different activities\, get some free food\, and grab back to school resources from community partners. \nSunday\, August 9th\, 2026\, 12:00 – 3:00 PM\, at Riverfront Park in Fitchburg (51 Commercial Street) \nAbout Common Ground\nLUK has been hosting Common Ground in some way\, shape\, or form since 1999! This event uses basketball as a way to bring people together and show that no matter our differences as people\, we can all find some common ground with each other. We have also historically hosted activities like the Peace Walk to empower youth to advocate for community peace. This year’s event will feature Lightning\, a type of basketball game\, and a collaborative Peace Mural. We can’t wait to see you there! \nAbout the Ready\, Set\, School! Block Party\nLUK is partnering with Fitchburg Public Schools and other local organizations to throw an exciting Back to School event\, Ready\, Set\, School! Kids can get a free haircut or braids and a backpack to start the school year fresh\, or just stop by for food\, ice cream\, activities\, and community. \nRegistration is appreciated through Fitchburg Public Schools’ form (CLICK HERE) \nThere will be tons of free resources and activities\, including: \n\nHaircuts & Braids\nBackpacks\nFace painting\nBubbles and Sidewalk Chalk\nFood & Ice Cream\nCommon Ground – Basketball Lightning Tournament\nCommunity Art Project – Peace Mural\nPetting Zoo\nNail painting\nMental and physical health resources\nKaraoke\nBouncy house\nAnd so much more!\n\n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Strategic Sharing! Youth ages 18-24 are welcome to join LUK\, Inc.\, PPAL\, and Youth MOVE Massachusetts at an upcoming Strategic Sharing training at LUK’s Young Adult Resource Center in Worcester (210 Lincoln Street Lower Level)! Learn how to share your story in a way that’s meaningful\, effective\, and safe. Participants get lunch provided and a $50 stipend for attending. Registration is required: Please click here to fill out the registration form. \nAbout the Strategic Sharing Training\nStrategic Sharing is a youth peer-led training for young adults ages 18-24 who want to share their story. Designed for youth and young adults with lived experience\, Strategic Sharing is about telling our life stories in a way that is meaningful\, effective\, and safe. At the conclusion of this activity\, participants will be able to safely tell their stories while retaining boundaries and identify purposes for which one might share their personal story.
