Telephone Monitoring & Support Calls: After leaving treatment, adolescents will be contacted by a telephone support volunteer on a weekly basis. The calls will decrease or increase in frequency after the first 6 months depending on the adolescents ability to stay alcohol and drug free. The telephone support volunteer will keep in touch with adolescents to ask about how they are doing (including substance abuse), their progress on their discharge plans, and their use of recovery support services in their community. If needed, the telephone support volunteer will refer adolescents to additional supports or services and help connect them.

Recovery Oriented Social Networking Site: A recovery-oriented social networking site has been created so that young people have a place to discuss various topics, issues, and challenges they face that have to do with recovery.  The social networking site will let them post comments or questions for other group members, post and find recovery-related events in their communities, post recovery services and resources that have been helpful to them, and access on-line mutual aid meetings in a private chat room.

Family Support Program: Parents, guardians, or other concerned family members will be encouraged to participate in a Family Support Program grounded in the Community Reinforcement and Family Training model (CRAFT). The group will meet weekly in an open format with a goal of retaining participants for 12+ weeks. As part of the Family Support Program, a therapist and/or parent volunteer will work with parents, guardians, or other family members to provide training in how best to respond to their adolescents motivations to abstain or use substances, how to communicate, and solve problems with them. Groups will be held in Fitchburg MA.

There is no cost to the consumer to participate in YPR. YPR is funded by the Greater Lowell Community Foundation (GLCF) and The Community Foundation of North Central MA (CFNCM).

Any person can make a referral.
