LUK Receives Community Foundation Grant To Address Youth Homelessness in North Central Massachusetts
Thanks to a generous $12,000 grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, LUK will provide training and technical assistance to build capacity within the communities of the North Central region to address the needs of runaway and homeless youth (RHY).
LUK will provide training, including population- and intervention-specific topics, regarding how to access and utilize the region’s existing resources. LUK will create fact sheets on topics specifically related to the issues faced by RHY, best practices, and the availability of and eligibility criteria for benefits and resources. LUK will provide step-by-step instructions on building a Runaway Homeless Youth service provider coalition within communities and promote public awareness through the development of an outreach campaign.
The ultimate goal of this work is to end homelessness among young people in North Central Massachusetts by educating local providers and enhancing their knowledge and self-efficacy to best serve this population and increasing awareness among the general population about this population and the need for services.
LUK is a nonprofit multiservice agency dedicated to improving the safety, health, and emotional well-being of youth, families and adults. As a community based organization, LUK offers an array of child and family services through four regional offices in Central Massachusetts: Fitchburg, Lowell, Webster, and Worcester.
