Description of Services

Emergency Shelter:
A six bed foster care program for children 0-18 years in need of an emergency placement setting. The Department of Children & Families (DCF) funds this program. It is a short-term placement of 1 to 30 days. When it is requested by DCF, family, individual and drug/alcohol assessments may be completed to determine the best services for the child and/or the family. Foster parents receive a daily stipend.

Proctor:
This is an intensive foster care and counseling service. It is a specialized placement service for children at risk between the ages of 0-18 years. This program is contracted by The Department of Children & Families (DCF) and provides a highly structured foster care setting for children with significant social, educational, and mental health needs. Children are placed for 1 year to 18 months in a foster home.  It is specialized because there is only one foster child in the home at one time.  Case management services and supervision of the foster homes are services also provided to the child and the family. Foster parents receive a daily stipend as well as a quarterly clothing allowance and a birthday allowance.

Community Heath Link Respite Services:
This is a regional respite service provided through Community Health Link. Access to this service is through the Department of Mental Health Offices in Worcester, Fitchburg, and Grafton. This service provides short-term placement for families in crisis. This service also provides short-term relief placement, i.e., youth, families, and children who need to take a respite in order to decrease family tension due to mental health issues. Foster parents receive a daily stipend.

Host Homes:
The Host Home model is intended to service youths, ages 16 years and older who may benefit from the support of a mentor while working on acquiring independent living skills. Host Homes will be specially trained in addressing the needs of runaway and homeless youth, modeling and teaching independent living skills, and fostering independence rather than care. Mentors will work in conjunction with the youth, outreach counselors and case managers to develop appropriate and individualized service plans. Length of stay would fluctuate based on the needs of the youth, ranging from 3 months to eighteen months Host Homes providers receive a daily stipend.

We also provide the following to the foster parents involved in the above programs:
On-going Supervision and Training, 24 Hour On–Call crisis management, CPR/First Aid Training, CPI (Behavior Management), PAYA Training (Preparing Adolescents for Young Adulthood), and ongoing training on a monthly basis.
